Nautilus

This is a new little watercolor painting I did, inspired by and named after the enigmatic Nautilus.
The Nautilus is a little sea creature, a cephalopod actually. They are said to be living fossils, as they have remained virtually the same for millions of years. Their beautiful shells have been greatly sought after and they have been thought to have magical qualities. Personally I find these creatures fascinating and for this piece I have combined them with the human form (also quite an interesting creature). My media is watercolor, Indian ink, pencil, and copics on illustration board. For more info on the Nautilus- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nautilus
