Two new things

I have recently been learning about the fabulous world of printmaking. This is one of my first copper plate etchings. I have titled it Aviary. It was hand etched, inked, and printed. 

Here is a still like in watercolor and Gouache. I have no title for it yet, but I refuse to call things "Untitled", so it shall simply remain nameless.

Map

Here I have a map. Not a terribly practical map however. This is a personal map of some continent entirely in my imagination. This is chalk full of cryptic symbolism that no one cares about but me.

Willem Dafoe

So here's Willem Dafoe. I'd wanted to do a portrait of him for a while and I finally got to. He just has such a dynamic face.
This is done on bristol paper in 7B and 8B pencil with a watercolor wash background.

An Unkindness of Ravens- 5 panel storyboard

 This 5 panel story was something I came up with in the spring of 2010 for a class assignment. I sometimes have the feeling that people only use half of the city and don't even realize it, that up on rooftops, atop bridges, or out of power lines is where some of the real action is. People, for the most part have the ground and the indoors, but the birds have the rest. But what if some lonely human were one day permitted to share in the city of the birds?


This was done on illustration board in Indian ink, coffee, earl grey tea, pencil, micron, and watercolor. 
Also, an interesting side note of terminology. I found many possible names for a group of ravens, and there is some debate over which one is the most 'correct'. These were Congress, Quorum, Flight, Plunder, Conspiracy, Constable, and Unkindness.
And of course a murder of crows...
